Frame0 1.0.0-beta.18 is out now! This release support inserting shapes with keyboard, inserting template pages, enhanced floating tools and more. The features and fixes in this release can be found at changelog.

Insert shapes by keyboard

Creating shapes or icons via drag-and-drop from the sidebar is very easy and intuitive. However, when you want to work quickly, the repetitive task of switching between keyboard input and mouse operations can easily become tiring and reduce productivity. To overcome this, we have added the Insert Shape Dialog, which allows users to search for shapes and icons all at once using keyboard controls and select the desired shape. This can be accessed using the Command+I (or Control+I) shortcut or selecting View > Insert shapes… menu or pressing Insert shapes… button (The button with plus icon) in the toolbar.

Insert template pages

When creating a wireframe for an application, it’s common to have many screens that share the same or similar structure. Examples include screens like Sign up, Sign in, and Settings. Repeating the same work for these screens every time is highly inefficient and a waste of time. Frame0 provides dozens of commonly used screen templates across all device types—Web, Phone, Tablet, Desktop, Watch, and TV. By selecting the View > Templates… menu or clicking the Templates button on the toolbar, the Template Dialog appears. From there, you can select the desired device and choose the page you want to reuse, which will then be added as a new page to your project.

Enhanced floating toolbar

The Floating Toolbar allows you to quickly set the properties of shapes directly on the canvas. We have added the Box Tool, which lets you round the corners of rectangles (or images) and configure the borders on all four sides. Additionally, a button to toggle word wrap has been added to the Text Tool.

Reduced file size

Frame0 projects are saved as files with the .f0 extension in JSON format. While JSON is easy for humans to read, it has the drawback of resulting in relatively large file sizes. We significantly reduced the file size—by approximately 55%—by avoiding the storage of redundant default values.

More default components

To enable rapid wireframing of modern apps, we have added three new basic shape components: Dots Indicator, Tab List, and Tag.
